Hemispherical bowl decorated with gilt Baroque ornamentation of scrolls and tassels.

Johann Friedrich Böttger developed hard stoneware in 1707 for Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. Initially produced in red and brown, the manufacture of stoneware was expanded to Dresden, Plauen, and Bayreuth.
